Where do we get our beds?

What Are Factory Seconds You Ask?

In the mattress industry, there are factory 1st, factory 2nds, and finally factory 3rds.

Factory 1st is brand new mattresses sold in your typical big box retail mattress store at full retail prices. We could name some mattress stores to give you an idea of who we’re talking about, but I’m sure you get the idea.

Factory 2nd mattresses come back to the manufacturer for a number of different reasons. The single most common reason is freight damages or scuffs. When we say “damages”, we are talking about purely cosmetic blemishes, maybe a minor tear or scuff on the side from dragging or snagging etc. So yes, the majority of factory 2nd mattresses are going to have extremely minor cosmetic flaws. Maybe they zigged when they should have zagged on the stitching; there are a number of manufacturer defects we’ll get in. Rest assured, 100% of our mattresses have gone through a 10-point inspection from the manufacturer, and we will NEVER offer mattresses where the structural integrity has been compromised. EVER. Factory seconds are NEVER brand new mattresses. Just like in the car industry, once that car is driven off the lot, it’s no longer brand new. If the mattress has come back to the manufacturer, regardless if it’s an overstock, freight scuff or discontinued model, it just can’t be considered new.

A little known fact about factory seconds: In a retail store, once the plastic has been compromised, whether it be a tear or a tiny hole, you now have a factory seconds mattress. Sounds crazy, but the mattress industry takes the safety and cleanliness of mattresses very seriously.

Once again, the majority of the mattress sets we sell are discontinued models, overstocks, mis-matched sets, freight damaged, scuffed & scratched, demonstrator, comfort return or floor model. Factory Second mattresses do not come with a manufacturer's warranty. We do take care of our customers; with each mattress and box spring purchased, we offer a 90 day warranty against a major manufacturer defect.

Factor 3rd is when you get into the products that we never carry. These are typically warranty returns or mattresses that have been damaged beyond what would be considered superficial. Once again, we do not carry these...ever.

We hope this information clears up any questions you may have had in regards to what a Factory Second mattress really is. AZ Mattress Outlet of Mesa stands behind our products 100% and are proud to offer another option for fantastic bedding at an incredibly discounted price. There's no reason to spend hundreds or thousands more for an identical product.
